Stump grinding is a method of stump removal where a machine is used to grind a stump to fine wood chips. The stump is the portion of the tree that remains visible when a tree is removed to ground level.
How do i measure a stump?
How do you remove a stump?
Stump grinding is the most effective and cost effective way to remove stumps with little to no damage to your personal property. The stump is ground into wood chips.
What do you do with the wood chips?
We rake all chips into a pile. Many times the chips will settle to ground level. We do not offer removal for the wood chips.
Can I use the wood chips for anything good?
Yes, the wood chips can be used as compost or garden mulch. They can also be used to fill small holes in your yard or be spread evenly throughout the yard to boost the level of organic material present as a natural fertilizer. Note that these chips will decompose fairly rapidly in their reduced state.
What about buried utilities and irrigation lines?
You, the homeowner is responsible to advise OOS, LLC where the irrigation lines and sprinkler heads are. If we are not comfortable with where the utilities are, we will call CBYD to have them located. Sometimes it is not possible to save the the irrigation lines and grind the stump too.
Who is responsible for broken irrigation lines?
We cannot take responsibility for irrigation lines if the location markings are not accurate or the homeowner is unsure of where they are. If the stumps cannot be ground without the possibility of hitting the lines. You, the homeowner must make the decision for us to continue.
How small or large of a stump can you grind?
We can grind most any size stump as long as our machine has access to it. There are some stumps that may be too tall for our machine. In that case, we have the tools necessary to minimize the height and continue with the stump.
How close to a fence or house can you grind?
Depending on several factors, within inches.
How much access do you need to get to the stump?
We need at least a 3 foot wide access point to get to a stump with our machine.
Will the machine Damage my yard, sidewalks, or driveway?
Our machine will not hurt driveways or side walks. A yard that is very wet from heavy rains will retain a small impression from our machine. Under normal conditions there will be no marks in the yard at all.
